Driving In a Lane
Print Article Email article to a friend »
When teens start driving, they have difficulty maintaining their lane. It's important that your teen learns to keep their car moving straight within their lane – without drifting or weaving. You’ll also need to help your teen understand when to change positions in their lane. Here are a few tips for your teen to keep in mind:
- Keep to the center most of the time so that there is distance between you and other cars
- Drive slightly on the left when making a left turn or when you need extra space from cars on the right
- Drive slightly on the right when preparing to park or when you need extra space from cars on the left
An inability to maintain lanes is one of the top ten causes of teen crashes.
