Night time is the right time for teens to practice driving with parents. But it is not the right time for teens to drive by themselves or with their friends. 15% of the miles driven by teens are at night. But 40% of the fatal crashes involving teens occur at night. Give your teen significant night-driving experience – once they have shown they are competent driving during the day.
At night, eye movement and scanning the road ahead are very important. But make sure your teen does not look directly into the headlights of oncoming vehicles. Teach your teen to angle their gaze more to the right side of the road until a vehicle passes.
